Philippe Alen joined Galapagos in 2022 as Senior VP, Head of Business Development, responsible for the identification, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, execution, and implementation of new business opportunities. Philippe is a seasoned professional who brings over 20 years of experience in research, marketing and business development in academia, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries, holding various positions at Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Janssen Pharmaceutica and Tibotec.
With a solid scientific background and business acumen, he has a track record of deal making across the value chain from discovery, early and late development to commercialization. Philippe is a driven leader, strategic thinker and trusted business partner who is committed to results. He is a strong believer in patient-centric and ethical business practices and acts as a mentor for young talents.
Philippe holds a Pharm. D. and Ph.D. from the KU Leuven & the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology, and an MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia, U.S.
