John W. Mellors, MD, has 30 years of experience in translational and clinical research and product development and joined Galapagos in 2022 as Head of Cell and Antibody Therapy Discovery. John received his MD from Dartmouth College and his training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Yale University. He is Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC Health System. Under his leadership, the Division of Infectious Diseases has grown to over 75 faculty and over 200 professionals. He has authored more than 400 publications, cited more than 30,000 times, and has multiple patents issued. In 2019 he cofounded AboundBio with Dimiter Dimitrov, PhD, and served as its CEO until the acquisition by Galapagos in 2022.
