Sooin Kwon joined Galapagos as Chief Business Officer on August 4, 2025. Sooin is a strategic and financial advisor with nearly 30 years of experience guiding life sciences companies through strategic transformation and high-impact growth initiatives. She brings a unique combination of scientific fluency, financial acumen, and deep expertise in capital markets, corporate development, and strategic transactions in the life sciences sector, and is driven by a strong commitment to advancing diversity and women’s leadership. Most recently, she was a Partner in the Life Sciences Practice at MTS Health Partners, where she has led numerous strategic and financing transactions for commercial and development-stage biotech and pharma companies and helped build the firm’s West Coast presence. Before joining MTS, Sooin held senior roles at Banc of America Securities, where she executed over 30 equity and equity-linked deals for leading healthcare clients, and at Merlin Biomed, where she managed public healthcare investments across the U.S. and Europe. She began her career in equity research at UBS and in healthcare strategy consulting at Equinox Group, where she also led the establishment of the firm’s London office. Sooin holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in French and Pre-Med from Tufts University.
